چکیده

We extend our previous work on the electromagnetic Casimir-Lifshitz interaction between two bodies when one is contained within other. focus fluctuation-induced pressure acting cavity wall, which assumed to be spherical. This can positive or negative depending response functions describing and medium filling cavity. However, we find that, under general hypotheses, sign independent of geometry configuration. result based representation energy in terms transition operators. In particular, study components these operators related inside scattering amplitudes, adapting invariant imbedding procedure this unfamiliar setup. that main agreement with Dzyaloshinskii-Lifshitz-Pitaevskii result, obtained as a limiting case.

Casimir Interaction: Pistons and Cavity

The energy of a perfectly conducting rectangular cavity is studied by making use of pistons’ interactions. The exact solution for a 3D perfectly conducting piston with an arbitrary cross section is being discussed.

Casimir-lifshitz force out of thermal equilibrium and asymptotic nonadditivity.

We investigate the force acting between two parallel plates held at different temperatures. The force reproduces, as limiting cases, the well-known Casimir-Lifshitz surface-surface force at thermal equilibrium and the surface-atom force out of thermal equilibrium recently derived by M. Antezza et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 95, 113202 (2005)10.1103/PhysRevLett.95.113202. The asymptotic behavior of th...

Comment on "Contribution of drifting carriers to the Casimir-Lifshitz and Casimir-Polder interactions with semiconductor materials".

We develop a theory for Casimir-Lifshitz and Casimir-Polder interactions with semiconductor or insulator surfaces that takes into account charge drift in the bulk material through use of the classical Boltzmann equation. We derive frequency-dependent dispersion relations that give the usual Lifshitz results for dielectrics as a limiting case and, in the quasistatic limit, coincide with those re...

Casimir force on real materials - the slab and cavity geometry

We analyse the potential of the geometry of a slab in a planar cavity for the purpose of Casimir force experiments. The force and its dependence on temperature, material properties and finite slab thickness are investigated both analytically and numerically for slab and walls made of aluminium and teflon FEP respectively. We conclude that such a setup is ideal for measurements of the temperatur...
